Observations

Week 1 has passed and we may be without the web for a few days. A few observations of travel in Paris.
1. Being in an apartment in the city centre is highly recommended, but not without drawbacks that can also be endearing - constant traffic noise topped off by sirens at all hours; lifts meant for midgets or dark spiralling stairs. We soon accepted both.
2. There are 7,000 plus restaurants to tempt you. How French women keep so thin is a mystery. It must be the smoking - they may die early, but there are savings on coffin size.
3. Driving is organized chaos, but there are few accidents or road rage. Parking is an art form- we observed a line of 5 cars all with their bumpers touching. How do they do that?
4. There is always something to surprise and delight. The best was while we were sitting and eating outdoors along the Seine when a girl in tu-tu came rollerblading past with on leg up above her head!
