The Tour finally leaves the Paris prologues for some road tripping. Got across town in a taxi without problems, and picked up the new Megane Estate. Getting used to the instruments and driving on the wrong side of the car and road was a good morning challenge. We drove north for our Somme battlefields tour and to visit three cemeteries that Margie has some relatives in. All were locating amongst the fields and were beautifully kept. Very moving to see the sheer numbers and there young ages. Stopped for lunch in the Victoria Cafe in Villers Bretoneaux and to visit the War museum full of things Australian including a stuffed Kangaroo and Joey. The school has a big sign in the playground saying "Never Forget Australia".
Drive on to Amiens where we are staying close to the very impressive Cathedral. This part of the town is wonderful to wander around with half- timbered houses and canals. We ate in a crowded canal side restaurant where the food was best forgot before watching the light show on the cathedral - now that will never be forgotten! They showed how it looked when originally painted while playing atmospheric music and commentary we didn't understand. Quite breathtaking.
